The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) has selected Greg M. Doherty, a Dietary Supplement Practice Leader of Poms & Associates Insurance Brokers, Inc., to perform on its Sports Nutrition Committee. Poms & Associates is a premier regional commercial insurance broker founded in 1989. Greg Doherty, a well experienced dietary supplement insurance broker, has been a member of AHPA since 2006. His goal is to aid in bringing the focus of the insurance industry to the Committee. Specifically, he wishes to focus in on the impact and effects of product liability insurance premiums and coverage for the thriving sports diet space.

So what exactly is the American Herbal Products Association?

The American Herbal Products Association is the national trade association for and the voice of the herbal products industry. AHPA is comprised of U.S. and foreign companies conducting business as growers, processors, manufacturers, and marketers of herbs and botanical and herbal products, counting foods, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and non-prescription drugs. Founded in 1982, AHPA\’s goal is to foster the responsible vending of herbal products.

The declared intention of the AHPA\’s Sports Nutrition Committee is to promote and protect the responsible commerce of products marketed for sports nutrition. The AHPA\’s Sports Nutrition Committee is co-chaired by Bill Carter, General Counsel of Bodybuilding.com, along with John Doherty, Director of Regulatory Affairs for Iovate Health Sciences.
